Art Exhibit- featured artist Lorie Allen
Lorie has been a member of the Friends of Crab Orchard Refuge for at least 20 years. For the past 7-8 years she has volunteered in many environmental education activities for children and adults including Eagle tours, Butterfly Round-ups, and Earth Day. Never one to color between the lines, when Covid-19 shut down all her volunteer activities, she transferred her love of nature and working with children into learning to paint. Tali and the Magic Tree is the story of the box turtles who live in her yard. One of the largest oak trees in Carbondale, Illinois is the focal point for the square mile area in which the turtles now struggle to thrive. You can learn about Eastern Box Turtles and meet Tali in this children’s tale.
